Punzel Gametoon Chapter I is a cartoon-inspired game series in which the core mechanic is to manage social interactions, build friendships and appease monsters. The main character is a princess who sits in her tower room, gets tired of waiting for a prince, and finally takes her fate into her own, weaponless hands.
Punzel is a character that turns the Damsel in Distress theme on its head. This transmedia storyworld revolves around the adventures of a princess in a tower who is tired of waiting to be rescued. In the role of Punzel, players progressively gain access to freedom via the means of social interactions. The interaction with Punzel's world happens via regularly published content in the form of comics and games.
Imagine you are a captured princess...but the hero never arrives.
Join Punzel in her adventure of trying to escape her tower prison. Experience the boredom of captivity, the daily frustrations of haggling with your captors and the ornithological bliss of observing crows. Lots of crows.
Punzel is a minimalistic cartoon-style point & click adventure that focuses on puzzle mechanics based on social interactions with a diverse set of characters and personalities.
The story plays in a universe where the princess, Punzel, is held in the Overlord's castle tower in a bare room that is guarded by his loyal minions. Occasionally a prince attempts to rescue her from the shackles of her captors but to her demise, none of them ever succeed.
The core mechanic of the game is based around social interactions: building friendships with the creatures and monsters you encounter using only gestures, reactions and facial expressions. This gameplay is embedded in an overarching point & click adventure-like experience with lots of secrets and hidden treasures that can be explored all throughout the game.
The GameToon format is a combination between a game and a comic. Players will be able to play the chapters one after another just like they were to read a comic book. The comic-like format also applies to the visuals and transitions of the game.
Finally, the world of Punzel offers a variety of funny and cute little comics that can be read online for some extra lore!
